Bike Details

Purchased in 2010 from a friend who was a relative of the original owner. He paid $150 for the bike and kept it for several years. I went to see the bike and it was quite a shock. It had been stored in a barn since 1974 with 9550 miles. The bike was partially disassembled and covered with a thick layer of grime. It was so awful looking I wasn’t sure it was worth more than parts and I thought a lot of parts were missing. After some discussion we agreed on a price ‐ I paid $300 for it. I took it home and spread the parts out in my yard and took some photos. The grime was so thick I had to scrape it off and it smelled like the pig barn it came from. After a day of scrubbing I loosely bolted on all the parts. Thanks to online parts books I realized I was only missing two parts ‐ the coil cover and clamp. Three months later I had the bike reassembled and started the
engine. Over the winter I refurbished the bike and by spring it was ready to ride. I left it in original finish as much as possible. The tank chrome has a rusty patina but it looks OK in photos. It starts, runs and handles
very well.
